TPS1663: Power good indication status

I came to know from previous conversation that once output and ground of TPS1663 is shorted (short circuit condition) power good pin goes low.

Will the power good pin go high instantaneously once the short circuit is removed? or what happened to power good once the short circuit is removed?

Hello Sooraj,

Short circuit is a latch off fault. Device will turn ON with VIN power cycling or SHDN toggle.

PGOOD will go high when internal FETs are fully enhanced. PGOOD will come high when device is ON.

What happens if i toggle shdn, with output and ground shorted? will the device turn on or still be on off state?

Hello Sooraj,

It will be in off stage. Device won't turn ON unless fault is removed.

If I do not want the external over voltage protection can i leave the OVP pin floating?

Hello Sooraj,

don’t leave the OVP pin floating.

As per the device variant, you can connect it to ground or set it very high.

Please check the OVP section in datasheet.
