BQ76952: Reverse charger protection for BQ76952 low-side BMS design

Part Number: BQ76952
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CSD19536

Tool/software:

Hello Sir,

I am referring TIDA-020216 low side BMS design to do reverse charger plugin simulation via TINA (Detail please find below). As simulation result, the discharge MOS drain voltage will exceed 100V when reverse charger plugin. Does that mean the discharge MOS will be damaged when the charger reverses plugin due to CSD19536 VDS being only 100V? Apart from changing MOS to 150V any other suggestions for reverse charger protection?

  • Hi Antonio,

I would recommend to add anti-parallel diode like:

It can clamp the reverse voltage to the diode forward voltage.

Or, you can add some Zener diode in parallel with FETs to protect them from over-stress failure.
