BQ27542EVM: Some issues with the BQ27542-G1

Part Number: BQ27542EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: GPCRB

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

My customer has some technical issues with the BQ27542 . Please help reply, thank you!

  1. Is it necessary to calibrate all packs individually? Especially at temperatures below -20 ° C(there may be issues with battery power supply in low-temperature environments.
  2. What does MaxLoadCurrent mean and how should this parameter be applied? There is no explanation in the datasheet.
  3. Why does the exported data also appear as "empty" or "abnormally large" data (as shown in the figure below)? What caused it? How can customers better filter out these abnormal data when using MCU to read them?

  • Hello Eric,

1 -It is not necessary to calibrate for all packs individually rather it would require the user to use the GPCRB tool that would optimize the battery gauge's for low temperature performance. However you will still lose capacity within the cell due to the physic behind the cell that can't be control from the battery gauge and would require a heating element to bring the full battery capacity back.

2 & 3 - Can you send the log file to better degu the issue.

    Thank you,
    Alan
