TPS65994QFNEVM: EEPROM programming device

Part Number: TPS65994QFNEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65994

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

At the moment, the EEPROM can be configured via an external programming device.

The question is, can we later update the EEPROM without the extra programming device in the case modifications are needed? If so, is there a tool from TI/Intel/MS?

Best regards

Marcela

  • Hi,

One of our team member will respond to this shortly.

  • Hi Marcela,

This may be possible depending on your system/board setup.

There are a two general ways to update EEPROM. One directly updates the EEPROM, and the other updates through the PD controller.

    1. Use an external programming device such as Dediprog to program the EEPROM directly.

    2. Use TPS65994 to program the EEPROM in a pass through method, using I2C commands to TPS65994. This requires an accessible I2C1 connection to TPS65994 or an embedded controller/MCU connected to TPS65994, and an I2C3 connection between TPS65994 and EEPROM. I am assuming by later update means you will not have access to the physical pins or ICs on the board, so you would need an embedded controller or micro-controller on the board to send the necessary commands to TPS65994 for updating EEPROM.

Please let me know if you have further questions.

    Best,

    Alex
