BQ76942EVM: Voltage Calibration error

Part Number: BQ76942EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO

Tool/software:

Hello TI:

I tried to run voltage calibration on my 76942EVM and I get the MAC error in the lower left corner. Can you help me to clear up this error?  I looked for a application note on the bqstudio voltage calibration to help explain the error, but was unable to locate anything that has a deeper explanation.

  • Hello Wlliam,

I notice that you do not have a cell attached to VC10 - VC9. You should have a real cell attached here.

Regarding the GUI calibration, you may need to fill the other cell voltages, at least with a dummy value.

However, I have seen in the past the GUI calibration page may not be the most robust. Usually for calibration I would recommend to follow the steps shown in the BQ769x2 Calibration and OTP Programming Guide

  • Hello Luis: The 76942EVM works without a cell in the VC10-VC9 location. What am I risking by not having a cell in this location? I will try your link to see if I can get it to work.

What about the MAC error? Is this due to the other cells not being populated with a dummy value?

  • Hello William,

Cell balancing is powered by this input, and I do recall some customers reporting oddities with some features when the cell is not populated.

What about the MAC error? Is this due to the other cells not being populated with a dummy value?

I recall this more of an error with communication between the GUI and the device. It is hard to tell exactly why it is happening here.

However, I would not advice to calibrate with this page, it is not the most robust.

    Best Regards,
