[FAQ] TPS389006-Q1: How to map a voltage monitor fault to the NIRQ error reporting pin?

Part Number: TPS389006-Q1

Tool/software:

What registers handle the mapping of a voltage fault to the NIRQ pin?

  • Hello,

In regards to voltage monitoring the NIRQ mapping is handled by registers IEN_UVHF, IEN_UVLF, IEN_OVHF, and IEN_OVLF (0x13 to 0x16) of Bank One. Each register is made up of 8 bits, where each bit corresponds to an individual monitor. The least significant bit (LSB) corresponds to MON1 and the most significant bit (MSB) corresponds to MON8.

In the register a value of 1b signifies a channel being linked to the NIRQ fault pin. For example, say a system only requires comparator-based faults through the HF sensing path and 6ch of monitoring. In this case only the IEN_UVHF and IEN_OVHF registers are utilized with a value of 0x3F signifying that only 6ch are being mapped to the NIRQ fault pin.
