LM5143: Parallel devices distance

Part Number: LM5143

Tool/software:

Hi,

I am considering the use of the LM5143 with interleaved operation. In my application, there is the possibility to have two LM5143 on two seperate PCBs which needs to be connected in parallel for 4-phase interleaved operation. Looking at the datasheet on page 31, I see that all the COMPx and SSx pins needs to be connected together. Since I will have those devices on two different PCBs which would connect their SYNC pins using wires, would it be so much of an issue if I also short the COMPx and SSx pins using wires from one board to the other?

Thanks

  • Hi Darren

I also short the COMPx and SSx pins using wires from one board to the other?

As these are analog signal pins, they are susceptible to noise. I would recommend keeping wire as short possible and away from switching path. Additionally, take individual signal along with GND wire for each and make twisted pair connection. For eg.

    1. SS-AGND
    2. COMP-AGND

    Hope this answers your question

    Thank you

    Regards
