BQ51013B: Datasheet & Testing Questions

Part Number: BQ51013B
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ51013, BQ51013CEVM, , BQ51013C,

Tool/software:

Hi,

I am interested in potentially designing a wireless charging receiver solution using the BQ51013. I noticed that the BQ51013BEVM-764 is not available through electronics distributors such as Digikey or Mouser. However, I did see that BQ51013CEVM is available through Mouser.

1.) Is there a reason for the BQ51013CEVM only being readily available of the BQ51013 series?

2.) What is the difference between BQ51013C and BQ51013B? Is there a target application for one over the other?

3.) In perusing the forums, it seems like there is a combination of BQ-transmitters and off the shelf Qi chargers being used for testing the BQ51013. Do you recommend an off the shelf or specific transmitter eval board to ease debugging in bringing up the BQ51013?

4.) I see that in multiple forums that we need to contact TI when the PCBA is ready for FOD Calibration. What does the FOD Calibration process entail? Is there additional hardware/software needed to purchase for it?

Thank you!

  • Hello

1.) Is there a reason for the BQ51013CEVM only being readily available of the BQ51013 series?

The BQ51013C will meet the latest WPC standards.  The BQ51013B will meet WPC 1.2 an earlier version of standard.

2.) What is the difference between BQ51013C and BQ51013B? Is there a target application for one over the other?

The 013C will meet current WPC standard and 013B will meet earlier version of standard.

3.) In perusing the forums, it seems like there is a combination of BQ-transmitters and off the shelf Qi chargers being used for testing the BQ51013. Do you recommend an off the shelf or specific transmitter eval board to ease debugging in bringing up the BQ51013?

We have used a couple of devices available on Amazon:

    1.) THREEKEY model TK-CW301

    2.) AMEGAT model lcq1010

4.) I see that in multiple forums that we need to contact TI when the PCBA is ready for FOD Calibration. What does the FOD Calibration process entail? Is there additional hardware/software needed to purchase for it?

This calibration is required for certification.  But will require accurate measurement of power loss. Additional hardware is required.

  • Great, thanks so much for the information! Would you happen to know the inductances of the coils used in the 1.) THREEKEY model TK-CW301 and the 2.) AMEGAT model lcq1010? Are these transmitters TI-based?

  • Hello

They are not TI Transmitter based.

Will have to check on the coil inductance this may take a couple of days.

  • Ok I see, thank you so much, appreciate it!

  • Hello

Sorry for the delay - still checking on the coil L question.
