BQ25883: Need 5A Output Support for RPi CM5 Portable Device – BQ25895 / BQ25883 / BQ25731RSN

Part Number: BQ25883
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25895, , PMP40496

Tool/software:

Hello,

I’m developing a portable device based on the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5 (CM5). The system is powered via battery and external supply, and requires up to 5A max output to power the RPi.

I’m evaluating the following Texas Instruments battery charger ICs:

  • BQ25895

  • BQ25883

  • BQ25731RSN

My key requirement is:

  • Support for 5A output (especially in OTG/boost mode or through the system rail)

Could you please help clarify:

  1. Which of the above ICs can reliably deliver 5A output?

  2. Does the BQ25895 or BQ25883 support this under any reference design (e.g., PMP40496)?

  3. Is the BQ25731RSN more appropriate for this high-output requirement?

Any recommendations or application notes for achieving this safely are greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
