    Hello

    The BQ25173, Super Capacitor charger would NOT be a good device for charging Li-Ion battery.  It does not have a number of features to provide safe charging of Li-Ion battery.

    The BQ25171-Q1 is similar to the BQ25173 and will charge an 8.4V Li-Ion Battery.
