LM2755: migration to LP5810 I2C protocol compatibility

Part Number: LM2755
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LP5810, , LP5811

Tool/software:

Hi,

my customer is using LM2755 but want to move to WSON package. LM2755 is only available in BGA and they are looking now in LP5810.

Is LP5810 software compatible to LM2755 ?

Do we have a guide how to move from one part to the other ?

Best wishes

Olrik

  • Hi Olrik,

The I2C protocol should be compatible, as both of them are standard I2C protocol. But the registers and data to write should be different.

Could you help to ask customer to provide their current code or provide the description of what LED functions are realized based on LM2755? Then I can provide a sample code to realize the same function based on LP5810.

Do you think is that ok?

    Best regards,

    Felix

  • Hi Olrik,

How do you think about my suggestion? Let's talk through email.

  • Hi Felix,

    thanks.

After some further investigation it seems that LP5811 would be more close to LM2755. However it seems that some functions former in software are now integrated in the hardware of the chip. This makes it difficult to change in applications still in series production.

As mentioned above it came up why customer want to move from BGA package to WSON.

When going back where we discussed the LM2755 during the design cycles, I'm not 100% sure, weren't there plans to have the LM2755 also in WSON.

Or do we have a other alternative in WSON more compatible to the LM2755

    Best wishes

  • Hi Olrik,

I will close the thread and continue to have the discussion through email.

    Best regards,
