TPS2663: Disconnect the GND side of the reverse polarity protection

Hi,
This is a question about protection in case of reverse power connection.
The power return is connected to FG by R1 and must be disconnected when reversed.
I am considering the circuit shown in the figure. Is there any problem?
When connected in the forward direction, the FET turns ON and the device operates, and when connected in reverse, the FET turns OFF and no current flows through R1.
The eFUSE circuit is assumed to be the same as the evaluation board.

Hello,

Yes, this configuration will isolate the GND in case of reverse connection.

TPS2663 with external FET has input line reverse polarity protection and reverse current blocking.

TPS2662, TPS2660 has separate GND and RTN pin for reverse polarity. You can check the devices.

In event of reverse connection, the MOSFETS turn OFF and isolate the ground. But wouldn't the negative terminal of the supply still be connected to the Vin of the e-fuse. Could that voltage damage the e-fuse?

Hello Michelle,

TPS2663 VIN_SYS pin will be connected to -ve VIN.

It has abs max voltage of -60V. So device will not damage is negative voltage is below 60V.
