LM5143: External SYNC Support

Part Number: LM5143

Tool/software:

Hi,

We are considering LM5143 for an application, where it fits the bill perfectly in every aspect except one - the range of external sync frequency supported. The ± 20% variation around the internal clock frequency is sufficient to support the requirement. The problem arises due to variation of the internal oscillator frequency itself. As per the data sheet, the internal oscillator frequency can vary by ± 11.4% across the temperature range of -40°C to 150°C. The temperature range of our application is limited though: 5°C to 75°C. If the variation of the internal oscillator frequency is only within ± 7% in that limited temperature range, then it would still work for our application. I would like to know, what would be the expected variation on the internal oscillator frequency for this limited temperature range.

Also, does it make sense to have a trim option on the RRT resistor to center the internal oscillator frequency to the middle of the external sync clock frequency range (190 kHz to 250 kHz)?

Many thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Eldho
