TPS82084: Output voltage ripple in PSM mode

Part Number: TPS82084
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS62125

Tool/software:

Hello,

I am an FAE at a distributor that handles TI products.
I have received some questions from my customer about the TPS82084.
In PSM mode the output voltage ripple increases, but is there a formula for calculating the ripple voltage?
According to Figure 19 on page 14 of the datasheet, it is about 20mV.

Best regards,

  • Hello Kaji,

thanks for reaching out in E2E.

There is no formula for calculating the ripple voltage available, as the ΔIL cannot be easily calculated. Section 5 (page 6) in application note "Designing for Lowest Noise with the TPS62125" is describing this aspect. (The TPS62125 is also a DCS controlled device.)

The output voltage accuracy in PSM operation is reflected in the electrical specification table and given for a 22-μF output capacitor. (See section 7.3.1 (page 8) of the datasheet.)

The measured voltage ripple in Figure 19 on page 14 of the datasheet is 13.3 mVpp.

    Best regards,

    Andreas.
