TPS2597: Active Current Limit

Part Number: TPS2597

Tool/software:

Hi team,

I am currently evaluating TPS25970ARPW. I set my current limit value(ILIM) to be at 0.82A.

I verified that the active current limit is engaged at a load current value of 0.8A using an electronic load, as shown in the image bellow.

However, when I ramp the input current to 0.83A, the Vout drops to 0V and then starts "auto-retry" at 190ms intervals.

This behavior does not sees to be in line with the operation of the active current limit.

Is this considered normal operation?

Best, Shinoda.

  • Hi Shinoda-san,

Are you using CC load. Can you retry this with CR mode.

In CC mode, load acts like constant current sink and device acts like constant current source but these are set at different values so this may result in unexpected behavior.

    Best regards,
    Arush
