BQ25820: BQ25820 Boosting the charge current beyond 20A possible?

Hello,

I know the BQ25820 is limited to 20A in the datasheet. What would prevent using it at 30A with higher current external FET's and high current Inductors?

There is a note about the Rsense remaining 5mOhms and not changing that, however the current sense signal could be attenuated 50% and it would raise the current limit 50%.

What is the source of the 20A limit?

The BAT_SNS resistor is the source of this limit. The 5mohm sense resistor is required for stability. It is not recommend to use a different resistance value.

What is the timeline of your project?

We will be releasing a new device early next month that is similar to BQ25820, but is able to support higher charge current.

I spoke with my team, and unfortuantely this project has been put on hold. We currently do not have a timeline on when this will be picked back up.

As I mentioned before the BATSNS resistor needs to be set to 5mohm for system stability.

Is it possible to use two BQ25820 in parallel for your project to achive this higher charge current?
