TPS1663: Difference between the TPS16530 and TPS16632

Part Number: TPS1663

Tool/software:

Hi All,

I have a question about the TPS16530 and TPS16632.

If both products fail, will they short or open?
Please tell me the failure mode.

I also believe the difference between the TPS16530 and TPS16632 is whether or not they have an OVP, but are there any other differences?

Best Regards,
Ishiwata

  • Hello Ishiwata,

If both products fail, will they short or open?

In case of EOS failures two scenarios may happen. One is VIN to GND (most common one) and VIN to OUT short because of FET VDS violation. You can protect by using TVS in input.

If you have stringent requirement, you can consider traditional fail-open Fuse at starting together with eFuse.

I also believe the difference between the TPS16530 and TPS16632 is whether or not they have an OVP, but are there any other differences?

Instead of different current rating and OVP, another difference is TPS16530 has 2x pulse current limit support.

    Thanks

    Amrit
