Hello Team,

Can you share with us the design files for BQ76930EVM?

I reviewed some threads, and they suggest the TIDA-00255 and TIDA-00449. However:

TIDA-00255: This is a 15 cell lithium ion batter controller reference design.
TIDA-00449: This is a 10 Series battery pack w/ 50 A discharge reference design.

The part we have purchased is the BQ76390EVM, which serves as an evaluative PCB for a 6-10 series Li ion set-up.

Will the two reference designs above comply with a 6-10 series layout?
Does the current discharge vary for different cell layouts?

Hi Rehan,

The above reference design are good starting guide. The TIDA-00449 covers the BQ76930 IC and a 10s configuration that can be adjusted down to 6s. The EVM user guide also shows the schematic and design guidelines used on the EVM User Guide https://www.ti.com/tool/BQ76930EVM

Regarding the cell layout and current, the designer needs to consider their specs requirements for discharge current and make sure the PCB has enough trace length to sustain the current and follow best practices. The Top 10 Design Consideration App Note (https://www.ti.com/lit/an/slua749a/slua749a.pdf) covers most of them, as well as the 9 Application and Implementation Section of the Datasheet (https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/bq76930.pdf)
