BQ25730: Clarification Required on Power-Up of Charger IC in Battery-Only Condition

Hello Team,

Could you please clarify how the BQ25730 charger IC is powered in battery-only condition? The datasheet mentions that the IC is powered from VBAT in such cases, but there is no explicit VBAT pin on the IC. Is it powered through the VSYS pin instead? Kindly confirm.

Referring to the application diagram, the battery is connected to SRN pin.

Hi Jing Zou,

Yes, the SRN pin is connected to the battery. But from the datasheet, it is understood that SRN is used for current and voltage sensing. But I was checking on how is charger IC powered during battery only condition. How is the IO pins and internal LDO (REGN) of charger IC powered during battery only condition? Is it powered from VSYS? Could you please confirm?

Yes, the charger will draw current from VSYS pin in battery only mode.
