BQ2002: Need Reference Circuit for BQ2002 Using 5V USB Type-C for 3×AAA NiMH Charging

Part Number: BQ2002
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25172, , LM317

Tool/software:

Hi,

I'm designing a charger using the BQ2002 family for a 3×AAA NiMH battery pack (~3.6 V). I want to power the circuit directly from a 5 V USB Type-C source (standard 5 V/1–1.5 A)

The DV2002L2/TL2 development board uses higher input voltages, which doesn’t fit my USB-powered use case.

Looking for:

A reliable reference circuit for 5 V USB input using BQ2002.

Overcurrent protection, temperature cutoff (NTC), and USB-safe trickle/top-off modes.

Which BQ2002 variant (C, G, E, etc.) is best suited for this application?

Appreciate any official reference designs or tips from the community.

Thanks!
