TPS2393* INRUSH solution

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2393

Attached is ECI LTD, ultimate INRUSH solution, for which they are looking fior improvment. (upper part)

It gives up to 4A.

It needs to support an OUTPUT SHORT , and to get into HICCUP (– and do it).

By more than 4-5A we have a problem with OUTPUT SHORT – an S.O.A. problem (an 0.22uF FLTTIME can improve it a little bit).

Our best FET (in the schematics) is with the most S.O.A. we have found , and 9.5mOhm RDS on.

Can you recommend us how can we increase the constant current up to 10A with HICCUP support (output shorted)?

 B.regards

  • To get 10A constant current output, change the sense resistor to .004 ohms (from .01 ohms).

To short the output and not burn out the fet

Change the ramp  capacitor to 470pF (from 0.47uF)

Change the flt timer to 12nF (from 4700pf)

  • Customer feedback:

regard to the INRUSH: We still  have a problem with the answer regard to the INRUSH .

The 0.47u is the FLTTIME and the 4700p is the RAMP cap.Can you fix it?

  • I'm not sure what was intended. I'll use the tool to calculate the these compnents. You can also find the calc tool on the TPS2393 product page.

    What is the capacitive load?

I see you're not using PG to start the resistive load. Is it popssible to start the resistive load with PG? This is typically done with dc to dc converters.
