TPS63710: TPS63710: VOUT not in regulation

Part Number: TPS63710

Tool/software:

We have a design that we use the TPS63710 to convert +5VDC into -2.5VDC for a negative reference on an ADC. For 99% of our modules, it works fine, but there is an issue with the 1% where we get a fault from the PG pin that it has failed. I have checked the voltage input on the supply and its stays above the 2V and check the temperature of the part and it does not get hot. This leads me to Vout is not regulated during these instances. I'm starting to believe it's the DC Bias on Ccp capacitors but not sure. Can you review the schematic to see if there is any issues you see?

  • Hi James,

As per the datasheet, schematic looks fine, only one change is needed, please replace the R214(10.k) with 100k res. and please remove one 10uF capacitor from CP pin.

    Regards,

    Manish

  • We ended up finding the issue. We have a coupling issue with an adjacent layer. 4 address lines run under the feedback resistor and when they are communicating it causes noise on the feedback line and changes the voltage level. We added a 12pF cap to R202 and it has stayed healthy since. My guess is the PCB stack up tolerance is causing each board to act a little different. Is there any issue with me adding a 12pF cap here?
