Tool/software:
Hi team,
I am using the LM74720 as an ideal diode controller in one of my projects. I am not using an external load disconnect FET(PD pin of the MOSFET). Please find attached a rough sketch of the circuit for your reference.
There are two sources:
-
An isolated 24 V DC-DC converter (output connected to the MOSFET source)
-
A 24 V battery (connected to the MOSFET drain)
There are loads connected to both the battery (not shown in the sketch) and the DC-DC converter. Before the DC-DC converter is powered ON, the battery is connected to the MOSFET drain. The battery is also hot-plugged to the drain of the MOSFET in certain conditions.
I have observed multiple IC failures in the field, although there is no overvoltage present at the MOSFET drain. Could you please review the attached sketch and let me know if there is any issue with the connections? All components have been selected and connected as per TI recommendations.
Best Regards,
