BQ25730: Register setting issue

This is normal. After set ADC_START=1, the ADC starts conversion. After conversion done, the ADC_START bit resets to zero.

The ADC has a LSB about 128mA. If the current is below LSB, it displays as zero.

No calibration is needed. there is an offset when intepreting the data.

The input voltage 0x0A register, also called VINDPM, sets the mininum input voltage required for charger operation. When input voltage is below the VINDPM level, the charger stops operation.
