Hi,

   there is a "keep out area" note on data sheet. what kind of items should not be in this area? via, power plane, trace...

    Alan,

    This is the keep out area for other physical components on the PCB. Don't put a capacitor or an inductor in that area because they can't fit in the same space as the chip physically. 

    Depending on your application it might be wise to avoid routing underneath this chip to maintain the 1kV of isolation and reduce noise.
