LM5146-Q1: Ripple voltage issue during MOSFET switching in DC-DC converter design

Part Number: LM5146-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM70860

Thank you, Tim. I have checked the quick start calculator and have attached the Excel sheet for your review. Please let me know if any changes are needed.

  • HI Manish,

Just check that the correct value is entered for ceramic Cout (derated for applied voltage). Also, Rdson current sensing is easier and lower cost. The current limit setpoint at 19A seems way above the 6A full-load rating. 8-9A should be fine. Note you need to use the xlsm version to get the plots to work.

Note we have an 80V/6A converter, the LM70860, if you'd like to have integrated FETs.

    Regards,

    Tim

  • Hi Tim,

Thanks for your feedback. I'll check the ceramic output capacitance, adjust the current limit to 8-9A, and look into using Rdson for current sensing to reduce cost and complexity. I'll also be sure to use the correct .xlsm version.

I appreciate the heads-up about the LM70860 and will consider it for the future.

    Regards,

    Manish
