TPS61165: Schematic Review

Inductor value can be calculated according design procedure on data sheet.

There should be at least 0.1uF 50V ceramic cap parallel with C121.

what's dimming freq? low-pass filter corner freq should be 10X higher than the PWM freq.

I’ll add the 0.1µF / 50V capacitor in parallel with C121 as suggested.
Also, I appreciate the hint regarding the low-pass filter. I’ll recalculate it according to the PWM frequency.

As for the inductor, I selected the base value (10µH) as shown in Table 2 of the datasheet. I just reused this part number since I’m already using it in another section of the circuit.

My Vin is 12V from automotive battery.... what IC do you suggest to use in this case?

if I use the SOT23-6 option the range is the same? could you share where I can see this information?

Hi,

12V to 24V 500mA Boost will trig 1.2A current limit, on the other hand, only WSON can handle the thermal as the output power over 12W.

is this design for automotive application? then how about Vin 12V min and max range?

Yes this is for automotive application, the voltage can variate between 12-14V but the nominal is 12V. Do you have any suggestion to other IC that can handle  this boost?

Thanks for your support! I’ll be waiting for your answer... just for knowledge.

For now, I’ll use a backlight driver in buck mode with a boost regulator, boosting Vin from 12 V to 27 V. I’ve tested this setup with some Chinese boards, and it has worked fine so far.
