TPS48111Q1EVM: IMON voltage value.

Part Number: TPS48111Q1EVM

Tool/software:

Hello Team,

I wanted to know what would be the maximum value for the voltage on the IMON pin, in my case being monitored by the microcontroller(3.3V) ? As the voltage at IMON is a indicator of the current going through the main path, in case of short circuit what will be the maximum voltage that will be shown ?

Thank you,

Karthik.

  • Hi Karthik,

The VIMON output is based on the short circuit threshold you design for.

For example if you design for Isc = 100A then Vsns = Isc x RSNS. Using equation 11 will then give the maximum VIMON value.
Often you can design backwards knowing your ADC max is 3.3V and back calculate the necessary RIMON value for 3.3V VIMON.

Also you can consider that the VIMON pin will clamp at 6.5V and is not recommended to monitor above 5.5V.

Please consider looking at our online calcualtor, which can be helpful for designing system components.  This is for TPS1211 which shares similar features and values to TPS4811 except for the operating voltage.
