BQ25750EVM: Power Off board

Part Number: BQ25750EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25750

Tool/software:

We have faced some problem with EVM-Bord during changing output voltage by software (BQ-Studio) it is going faulty first going Output zero then after some time going power off.

Please help us identify and fix the issue.

Thank you

  • Hello Anuj,

I have a few questions to help us debug this:

    • What's your input and output voltage?
    • What's the charging current here?
    • What other registers are being set when the board went faulty?
    • What type of load are you using for the output of the BQ25750?

  • Hi Ethan

    1. Input voltage =24-volt form dc power supply

    2. There is not any device connected for charging we was just setting output voltage.

    3. No register is being set we was just Trai to measure voltage without any jumper (JP1, JP2) and that time there was some sound and then connect jumper and found no output voltage. and then restart then found no led is blinking Board power.

    4. For testing we have electronic load. but this not connected.

We have 2 no. new board compared to other board it is showing shorting at some capacitor like C5, C8, C26.

Plese suggest how to solve this. we have purchase first time.

  • Hello Anuj,

    2. There is not any device connected for charging we was just setting output voltage.

What were you setting the output voltage too?

    3. No register is being set we was just Trai to measure voltage without any jumper (JP1, JP2) and that time there was some sound and then connect jumper and found no output voltage. and then restart then found no led is blinking Board power.

I don't recommend using the IC without the JP1 or JP2 jumpers. If these jumpers aren't connected, the feedback loop for the battery voltage is left open and the EVM's output voltage will rise to the maximum possible voltage output of 70V.

The EVM might be damaged here. Can you measure the resistance of the SRN/SRP resistors? These resistors should measure as 10Ω.

For setting the output voltage, can you refer to the design calculator? You can find a link to the design calculator in the BQ2575X general FAQ page.

We also have an FAQ for the BQ25750's power path switchover.

Let me know if you have any questions about this.

  • Dear Ethan, yes, I think it might damage can you suggest me how to repair this for Reuse there is IC shorts. I can change U1 IC can you confirm after this it will work.

  • I think the board should work if you replace:

    • The SRN/SRP resistors to be 10Ω.
    • The ACN/ACP resistors to be 10Ω
    • The IC
    • The BATFETs and ACFETs (I recommend checking the FETs with a diode function to see if they are working. You might not have to replace these FETs.

Also, sorry for the sparse response. I'm swamped at the moment.
