BQ27Z746: How to program the battery fuel gauge if it is not on battery pack PCB board

Hi, 

Can the Ti fuel gauge be located on the system board, but NOT on the battery pack PCB board (due to PCB board size limitation) ?  if YES,   What are the steps should be followed to program the gauge IC correctly? 

Specifically 

1. how to flash chem ID into the gauge if it is on the system board and can not be accessed via BQstudio?

2. Is the battery pack learning cycle still required to create a golden image,  even if the gauge is not on the battery pack?

3. can a golden image be i2C into the gauge without BQstudio?  if yes,  is there an instruction ?
