TPS61040: WEBENCH®︎ Designer TPS61040

Part Number: TPS61040

Tool/software:

Hi

We have a power supply project based on the TPS61040 with the following characteristics:
Vin: 3.3V
Vout: 5.0V
Iout max = 0.4A
The power supply prototype became unstable.
When using WEBENCH® Designer TPS61040,I verified that the project could not be generated.
The project characteristics are consistent with the regulator, as per the datasheet.
Can you help?

  • Hello Gilberto,

The current limit of the TPS61040 is 400mA typically. In your design for an output power of 2W, you need an input power of about 2.5W, this means an input current of about 0.75A and if you then calculate the peak current, it will be in the range of 1A. So you need a device that has a peak current limit setting of 1A. I expect that your design works below 150mA output current.

    Best regards,
    Brigitte
