Hi team,
Customer wants to use TPS25751 with BQ25790 for next gen, and they are considering to use OTG function of BQ25790.
Customer has been use TPS25751+BQ25790 as below. So for sink PPHV is used only for sink, and PP5V is used for source use-case. And VBUS_IN pin and VBUS pin are shorted. (5V/9V PD sink, USB Type-C current source)
In the next model, customer doesn't need DC jack input. So they can use VBUS pin of BQ25790 as OTG output.
In this case, I have three questions.
1. PP5V still needs to be supplied for VCONN power? And should it be external supply because PPHV may have 9V?
2. When PP5V are supplied from external 5V, how much current is needed? 3A (USBC current) or 700mA (VCONN)?
3. Is there any SW modification to use PPHV as source power path?
Customer wants to reduce system of 5V/3A supply for PP5V, so please let me know what is possible.
