TPSM82810: TPSM82810SILR

Part Number: TPSM82810

Tool/software:

I have completed the schematic using the TPSM82810SILR part, and I would like your confirmation on whether it will work as a replacement for the design mentioned below.

  • Hello Prajesh,

thanks for reaching out in E2E.

The MODE/SYNC pin of the TPSM82810SILR should not left unconnected. Connect to HIGH (>1.1V) for FPWM operation. Connect to low (<0.3V) for PFM/PWM operation.

In the previous design the FB reference voltage was 0.75V. The FB reference voltage of the TPSM82810SILR is 0.6V, therefore the FB voltage divider resistor values needs to be adjusted to achieve VOUT=1V. For example R745=66.5kΩ and R746=100kΩ would work.

Please be aware that the switching frequency is ca 1.8 MHz in this configuration, whereas it was ca 3MHz at the previous design. The switching frequency of the TPSM82810SILR could be adjusted to 3 MHz by changing the RCF (R744) to 6 kΩ.

The ferrite bead at the 5V supply can cause resonance with the input buffer caps. If this is the case then adding damping circuitry as described in section 4 of this app note would help: "Using the Filters with the DC/DC Step-Down Converter".

The rest of the schematic is OK.

    Best regards,

    Andreas.
