BQ40Z80: BQ Studio device communication issue.

I downloaded the latest BQ Studio 1.3.101. I connect my battery pack to the EV2400 and start the BQ Studio application. BQ Studio shows Auto Device Detected: 1717_17_17, which is not the module in the battery pack.

I also have a BQ40z80EVM that I am unable to connect to. When I connect the USB cable to the BA40z80EVM's internal EV2400, I see a HID-compliant device and USB Input device added to the Device manager, but when I start the BQ Studio, I see the Auto-Detected Device: None. Manually selecting the bq40z80 gives a warning and doesn't appear to be communicating with the EVM when I get to the main BQ Studio screen. Jumper J18 and J22 are in the default lower position, so it should be configured for the internal EV2400.

Hi Brian,

I have had issues with the BQSTUDIO-STABLE in the past.

I believe you must use BQSTUDIO-TEST. The latest version being 1.3.128.

I am myself using:

Version: 1.3.128

Release date: Aug 6, 2025

Hello Brian, you should be able to communicate with the device. When you force to initilize bqstudio by choosing a bqz file, go to the advance comms tab. Then send read word to either command 0xd or 0x8d. Try different address to this commands, and let me know what you get back.
