BQ40Z80: Should I use BQ40Z50 or BQ40Z80 for a 4S1P battery?

I am designing a BMS for a 4S1P battery. The main differences between the BQ40Z50 and the BQ40Z80 appear to be that the BQ40Z80 has ECC capability and has GPIOs whereas the BQ40Z50 only has SHA-1 and hard-set IO. Are there any other considerations for selecting between these two chips for a 4S case?

Hello Jacob,

The main difference is the higher authentication as you pointed out. I believe the BQ40z80 has difference on the cell balancing, but I believe the bq40z50-R5 is comparable.
