Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC23513
Hi team,
Could you provide TDDB plot for UCC23525?
My customer requires that for device qualification.
Best regards,
Kazuki Itoh

Hi Kazuki,
Here is the TDDB lifetime plot for one of our reinforced isolation devices, which is based on the industry standard TDDB test as well as VDE qualifications:

Hi Will,
I don't find this TDDB plot from UCC23525 datasheet.
Could you please make sure this plot is for UCC23525?
Best regards,
Kazuki Itoh
Hi Kazuki,
It is my understanding that this plot is for our devices that used Reinforced Isolation technology. I was able to find another version of this plot on the UCC23513 datasheet, which is the previous generation version of this device. The relationship is the same, but this plot shows the projected lifetime for lower applied voltages:

Hi Will,
Could you please directly answer my question?
Could you provide TDDB plot for UCC23525?
My customer is considering to use it for life critical application.
They need the TDDB plot for qualification.
Other isolation devices always have TDDB plot in the datasheet, but why UCC23525 doesn't have it?
Best regards,
Kazuki Itoh
Hi Kazuki,
The TDDB plot I attached in my previous message (Figure 6-3) also applies for UCC23525. The Insulation Specifications tables for both of these devices are almost identical, with the only differences being from new qualification requirements from VDE (VDE V 0884-11 vs VDE 0884-17). The isolation technology is the same, thus the ratings are the same, and so the TDDB plot above would be the correct one for UCC23525.
Best regards,
Will
Hi Will,
This matters customer's device qualification process.
Where can I find the official evidence that the UCC23525 uses the same technology as the UCC23513 and the TDDB plot for the UCC23513 can also be applicable to the UCC23525?
I think adding the TDDB plot to the UCC23525 datasheet should be the easiest solution.
Again, why UCC23525 datasheet doesn't have the TDDB plot?
Also, what is the key difference between VDE V 0884-11 and VDE 0884-17 in the TDDB plot?
Best regards,
Kazuki Itoh
Hi Kazuki,
The same isolation technology can be verified in the insulation specifications section of the datasheet. Both devices use reinforced isolation technology. These ratings have been qualified using the VDE 0884 standard for testing requirements, which I discuss the difference between 0884-11 and 0884-17 below.
For adding the TDDB plot to the UCC23525 datasheet, I can reach out internally to have the plot added.
The VDE qualifications should not affect the TDDB plot of the device, only the stated ratings listed in the datasheet. VDE version 0884-17 increases some of the requirements for qualification testing, which further qualifies UCC23525 above UCC23513, and it reflects the slight change in the ratings stated in the insulation specifications section of the datasheet. However, since both devices use reinforced isolation technology, the plot should apply for both.

Will
Hi Will,
Thank you for the explanation.
Could you please let me know when can you add the TDDB plot to the UCC23525 datasheet?
From custoemer's quality department perspective, they cannnot simply use the life critical parameters like insulation lifetime to their qualification process.
I'd appreciate your understanding.
I can share the specific customer project infromation offline as needed.

Hi Kazuki,
I confirmed with the PE team that the TDDB plot for UCC23513 also works for UCC23525. Adding this TDDB plot to the UCC23525 datasheet would take some time, as there is a revision process that needs to take place. If you customer specifically requires a plot for UCC23525 and will not accept the plot for UCC23513, please reach out over email to request a copy of the TDDB plot for UCC23525.
Best regards,
Will
Hi Will,
I guess UCC23525 uses inductive isolation and UCC23513 uses capasitive isolation.
If so, it does use different isolation technology.
Could you please double check if UCC23513's TDDB plot is still applicable to UCC23525?
Best regards,
Kazuki Itoh
Hi Kazuki,
You are correct. UCC23525 uses inductive isolation, and UCC23513 uses capacitive isolation. However, it is important to note that isolation robustness is determined by the isolation material the signal is transmitted across, not by the use of either magnetic or electrical fields. Both devices use the same isolation material, hence why both devices are rated for Reinforced Isolation ratings.
My apologies for any confusion earlier, as my initial wording was not accurate, Reinforced Isolation is the isolation rating that refers to the qualification level and minimum isolation spec requirements for the device, whereas isolation technology is the isolation method such as capacitive or inductive. Both UCC23525 and UCC23513 are rated for Reinforced Isolation, and so the TDDB plot (based on the qualification and specs) will apply for both devices.
Best regards,
Will
