How can UCC5350 achieve output driving of SiC gate positive voltage and gate negative voltage using only resistors, inductors, capacitors, and diodes without the need for an external negative voltage power generation module?

Hello,

I'm not sure that I understand your question. In order to drive the output with either positive voltage (12V for example) or negative voltage (-5V for example), you will need to supply VCC2 with the positive voltage and VEE2 with the negative voltage. Can we also use this diagram with Vdd1=17V, Vee2=0V, and UCC5350 to achieve negative voltage driving of SiC?

Hello,

The OUT pin cannot be negative if VEE2 is 0V. This would break the absolute max ratings for the device. If you want to drive the device with +12V on VCC and -5V on VEE for example, you will need to connect the grounds for those supplies similar to the Typical Application Schematic for UCC5320E. Keep in mind, this device has a GND2 pin instead of a CLAMP pin.

It seems that you don't understand what I mean. I'm referring to whether the UCC5350 chip can build a peripheral circuit with 17V and 0V, as shown in the picture, to naturally generate a negative voltage without the need for an external negative voltage generation module。

Hello,

It is my understanding that the UCC5350 cannot "naturally generate" a negative voltage on the output pin. The device ties the output to either VCC2 or VEE2 depending on whether the input sets it to drive High or Low respectively. In addition, if VEE2 is set to zero and the output were -17V, this would break the device due to exceeding the absolute maximum specs listed in the datasheet.
