LMG3522R050: Driving vneg directly

Part Number: LMG3522R050

I'm designing with an lmg3522r050, and I wanted to investigate the possibility of supplying VNEG from -15 supply and forgo the usage of the internal converter, to drive higher frequencies than the rated 3.6mhz. Is driving vneg possible?

  • Hi Brian,

Yes, the LMG3522 device's VNEG pin can be driven by external supply. The -14V on VNEG is usually powered by an integrated inverting buck boost (IBB) in the driver, the switching frequency limit is a factor of how much power this IBB can supply. An external -15V supply on the VNEG pin will allow you to drive the device at higher frequencies.

    Best,
