TPS63070: Regarding the Overvoltage Protection Threshold

Hi team,

My customer is considering the TPS63070 based on the following requirements:

Requirements:

Input voltage range: 2–9V
Output voltage: 5.5V
Output current: 0.8A
Topology: Buck-Boost

With a lower input limit of 2V, the number of suitable devices is limited, and the TPS63070 seems to be one of the few viable options.

Question: According to section 8.4.8 "Overvoltage Protection" in the datasheet, it appears that the threshold is internally defined. What is the exact value? The customer would prefer a threshold around 6V, but this cannot be configured by the user, correct?

Thank you for your support.

I understand that the voltage is internally fixed at approximately 11V.

When the OVP is activated, I assume the output voltage will be limited to around 11V.

After that, will a shutdown occur? If so, how long after the OVP is triggered will the shutdown take place?

Also, please let me know whether the recovery method is latch-off or auto-retry.

From my test the vout is limit to 11.4V. By chip, the value may vary, but will be smaller than 12V.

No, IC will keep switching and Vout is clamped to the OVP value.

IC will auto recovery when OVP is released. Please see the waveforms below:

Vin=5V, Vout target=5V, Iout=100mA, FB short test.
