Hello,

Our product includes a battery fuel gauge, specifically the BQ34Z100-G1, and we have observed sporadic measurement behavior across multiple units.

A few devices measure correctly and provide accurate SOC, Full Charge Capacity, Remaining Capacity, and other parameters. However, the majority exhibit substantial fluctuations between measurements. We have compiled detailed data documenting our observations and would like to request assistance in troubleshooting the application.

We have completed the procedure described in “Achieving the Successful Learning Cycle” and have produced a valid golden image representing our battery stack.

As mentioned, some devices perform correctly while others do not, even though both the hardware platform and the fuel-gauge configuration are identical.

Any guidance or support you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Diego, yes here is all the data I have, I think the SOC plots would be of interest and perhaps the settings of the fuel gauge.

Hi,

I do not understand the log file shared, Why does SOC fluctuate between 100-97% while the cells are being discharged?

FCC is also all over the place, this value should not be updating this much.

Are these values being pulled directly from the gauge.

If yes, I will need a BQstudio log, because there are clearly a few things going wrong here.

This discharge is at ~10degC, at room temp how is the preformance?

Hi Diego, sorry for the late response. Yes these values are reported directly from the gauge, I read them via I2C. Could you clarify on the BQstudio log ? Would i have to charge and discharge the battery while recording/logging via BQstudio ? We are using BQ25750 as charger, the performance at room temperature has not been logged as extensively as the field test logs you have received. We have a 10Kohm NTC as temperature input to the fuel gauge.

I found this post BQ34Z100 SOC and remaining capacity goes to ZERO
And we are facing similar issues using a similar value as the guy in the thread,
"Gas Gauging","IT Cfg","Cell Terminate Voltage","3000","mVolt"

Would you be kind and look through our configuration and confirm ? we are using a 25V6Ah-8S1P20LiFePO4 battery pack

Hi Diego,

According to the post referenced by Søren P (BQ34Z100 SOC and remaining capacity goes to ZERO), it seems like the problem is likely one or more of the parameter settings in the .gg file. Could you review the configuration and let us know?

Yes, this would allow me to see the registers I need to debug.

Yes, the problem is 100% related to the configuration, however I cannot comment on changes until I get the data I need.
