Hi,

I am designing a Type-C phone charger using the TPS25830A and I have a question.

I don't want to use the USB functionality. Do I need to connect the USB Data+/- pair to the charging function, or are the CC pins enough?

Hi Batuhan,

You can leave D+/D- disconnected. But if you're not using USB data, I recommend switching to TPS25831-Q1. If you connect D+/D- to this IC, it enables legacy charging modes.

Rn, I can't change the charging IC and we don't use USB switch function, main task is USB phone charging. I think TPS25830A does not support legacy charging mode, right?

HI Batuhan,

TPS25830A-Q1 will support the older BC1.2 CDP spec, but this insinuates USB data capability. It doesn't support any other legacy charging modes. So for your case, correct, there's not a way to implement legacy charging schemes.
