BQ25176J: BQ25176J: Vin_DPM with battery voltage above threshold

Part Number: BQ25176J
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25186

I am looking at part selection for a linear LiPo charger from a small solar panel (Voc = 6.2V, Vmpp = 5.0V, Isc = 42 mA).

I am trying to determine what the behaviour of the BQ25176J is when the battery voltage is above Vin_DPM (3.25V), but the solar panel is still current limited. For example if the battery is at 3.7V, limiting the current at Vin = 3.25V doesn't make any sense, since a linear charger can't charge a battery at a higher voltage.

Other TI parts (e.g. BQ25186) start the current regulation loop at the higher of Vin_DPM and (Vbat + threshold), but that does not appear to be case for this part. Does this mean no current regulation occurs, and if the panel cannot supply the configured charge current, the input voltage collapses and charging halts?
