TLV61070A: Auto PFM operation mode

Part Number: TLV61070A

Hi Sir,

we have used the TLV61070ADBVR Boost IC in one of our project,

According to the Datasheet, when the inductor valley current reaches the low limit, the output voltage exceeds the setting voltage as the load current decreases further. When the FB voltage reaches the PFM reference voltage (505mV), the TLV61070A enters Power Save mode.

The Problem we are facing is the Current Consumption issue in Light Load Mode. We have the following Doubts
1. Voltage at the FB pin is measured to be 0.53V with an output of 5.62V with a light load of <4mA. Does it mean that IC is in PFM mode from the start of the IC, since the FB voltage is more than 505mV?

2. How do I find the threshold inductor valley current for this IC with inductor MPN of CIGW252010GL2R2MNE?

  • Hi,

    For your questions:

    1. Yes, this device is working in auto PFM mode under light load. So the situation you found is normal.

    2. For the real value, you can test the waveform of inductor current. When the device trigger current limit, the output voltage decreases during further load increase. You can see below part of datasheet for more details. Thanks.
