TPS61094: UVLO for hybrid supercap

Part Number: TPS61094

The TPS61094 can discharge a supercapacitor to as low as 0.6V. However, hybrid supercapacitors have a minimum operating threshold—typically 2.2V or 2.5V—below which they should not be operated. Is it possible to adjust the TPS61094's (or another device?) discharge threshold, or is there a way to implement a circuit that shuts down the device once the supercapacitor voltage drops below 2.2V?

Thank you!

  • Hi Lenio,

TPS61094 can change the charging termination voltage by VCHG pin. But if you want to shut down the device before Vsupercap drops below 2.2V, you may need to add additional circuit. Because of the charging termination voltage achieved, and you remove Vin, the device will working in boost mode and use super cap voltage to get boost output voltage. Thanks.
