Part Number: LM317
Hi
I am trying to use Two LM317 in current sharing mode but Is this mothod of using two LM317 in parrlel on the power path will have any issues with current Hogging ? Do we need Hogging resistor ?

Hi Agxin,
I actually think this will work without the resistors R323 and R319 (see simplified below). Each LM317 will independently regulate the voltage across its OUTPUT-to-ADJUST resistance, and current will be shared as equally as the resistance.

Ballast resistors after the adjust connection are not necessary in this configuration. Parallel voltage regulation benefits from ballast resistors because performance is best when the currents are shared equally. In current regulation mode, the currents themselves are independently regulated and summed together (KCL) at the output node, and there is no requirement that the voltage at each output pin (that independently compensates for each current) is the same.
Best,
Gregory Thompson
