CSD17579Q5A: Issue with Net Connection in Altium

Part Number: CSD17579Q5A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CSD18514Q5A

Hello, I am running into an issue where the drain of the MOSFET won't connect to its net with a polgon pour, only a trace. This is what the image is showing. For some reason, there appears to be a keep out around the drain pad, but I can connect them with a trace. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thank you!

  • Hello Ava,

Thanks for the inquiry. I am unsure why you are having this issue with the Altium footprint. Let me check with the CAD team to see if they know why this is happening. I will update you as soon as I have more information.

  • Hi Ava,

Thanks again for your interest in TI FETs. I checked with the CAD team and this footprint was created several years ago, They are going to create a new footprint but it may take some time to complete. In the meantime, the CSD18514Q5A is in the same package and the footprint has been recently updated. Can you try that as a placeholder in your design until the CSD17579Q5A footprint is updated? Please let me know.

    Thanks,

    John

  • Hi Ava,

The new version of the PCB footprint has been created, reviewed and approved. It may take a few days before it is updated on TI.com. Below are some helpful hints and screen shots from our CAD team. Also, attached is a sample PCB project. Let me know if you still have issues.

    Thanks,

    John

    1) Design rules must be set accordingly: you must check the polygons connect style here:

    2) Particular drain polygon pour settings must be as following:
