TPS922055: TPS922055

Part Number: TPS922055
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM3409, LP8865Z-Q1

Hi,

We have designed a led driver using the TPS922055, it will drive a led string with 6 leds at 2A maximum for use with machine vision. We chose the TPS922055 because of the possibility of getting analog dimming with a pure PWM signal as we want to avoid any flickering during dimming. The device works well but the IC reached 92 degrees when observing it with a termal camera with the PWM signal at 100%. EN/PWM is tied to VCC as we dont have an external 5v easily available.

Would the LP8865Z-Q1 handle 100% duty cycle better or should we use a RC filter on the IADJ pin on something like the LM3409 instead?

Vin is 24-30v and the voltage drop over the leds is about 20v.
