UCC21750: Global Shutdown With Inverting and non-inverting Input Configuration for UCC21750

Part Number: UCC21750

1) I would like to go for Global Shutdown With Inverting Input Configuration. I got 8 driver FLT pins. How can i connect these for Global Shutdown With Inverting Input Configuration. Can i connect IN+ with FLT pin of each driver and connect all together with 10k ohm resistor? Please send me the generla schematic as well. I cannot find any information in datasheet???
2) Please also tell me that is it possible that Global Shutdown work With non-Inverting Input Configuration????

  • Hi Engineer,

    Thanks for reaching out.

You can reference the Page 27 of the ISO5852S Datasheet for additional information on implementing Global Shutdown with Inverting Input Configuration. you can connect multiple FLT outputs of multiple UCC21750 devices together to form a single common fault bus for interfacing directly to the microcontroller. For a sample UCC21750 schematic, I'd recommend you take a look at UCC21750QDWEVM-025.

You can't use global shutdown with non-inverting input configuration with additional external circuitry.

    Best regards,

    Muiz.

  • Is it possible to implement global shut down and auto reset both function same time with UCC21750.

    thanks,

  • Hi Engineer,

Automatic reset already provides the shutdown behavior. In the auto-reset configuration, the gate driver is being reset in every switching cycle. When a DESAT fault occurs, the gate is driven low and stays low until the next reset/PWM cycle after the mute time.

    Best regards,

  • In global shut down FLT pin connect to IN+ to pull down IN+ of all the driver when fault occurs on one driver. In auto-reset mode, is it possible to disable all the other driver if FLT pin goes low by connecting all FLT pin together and connect to IN+ of each driver?? Please see attached figure.

  • Hi Engineer,

Using the implementation form your image, the gate driver would lose power when the FLT goes low as you'd be shorting the power supply to ground. Disconnecting the IN+ pin from the VCC power supply while connecting it to FLT should help you achieve your required result.

    Best regards,

    Muiz.
