Part Number: TPS3820
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS3828
Hi,
We are using the TPS3820-33 as an external watchdog.
WDI is connected directly to an MCU GPIO.
During production programming (before firmware is loaded), the GPIO state is undefined and the watchdog times out, asserting RESET.
For flashing, we need RESET to stay HIGH.
We are considering adding a test point on RESET and driving it to 3.3V through a 10k resistor during programming (to override the watchdog reset).
Is it safe to externally force RESET high through 10k while the TPS3820 may be driving it low (~0.3mA conflict current)?
If not, what is the recommended way to keep RESET released before the MCU is programmed?
