BQ79731-Q1: auto-address between bq79731 and bq79616

Part Number: BQ79731-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ79616

Hi,

I completed the auto-addressing process according to bq79731 datasheet. However, I encountered a communication problem between the MCU, bq79731, and bq79616. After enabling auto-addressing, communication between the bq79731 and the MCU via UART was interrupted; prior to this, communication was normal.

  • Hi Kuan-Ming,

    A couple of things:

    1) When you say communication is interrupted, do you mean that the MCU could no longer communicate to the BQ79731? If so, double check what address you're setting your BQ79731 with an address of 0 if it's a base device and your BQ79616 as an address of 1 with the BQ79616 also set as top of stack.

    2) Since you're mixing two generations of cell/pack monitors, I can't guarantee that all of the functionalities will work as expected, especially since the BQ79616 and the BQ79731 have different register maps and timing requirements.

    Sincerely,

    Michelle W.
